Position Summary: The Structural Fitter is instrumental in the construction and repair of pipe and plate systems used in marine vessel fabrication. This skilled individual collaborates with a team to achieve precise assembly and installation of structural components, ensuring that every joint is welding-ready according to system requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of various pipe and plate systems.
Ensure precise fitting of pipe and plate components, preparing joints meticulously for welding.
Read and interpret blueprints, while also creating detailed sketches to guide fabrication.
Calculate offsets and complex bends, demonstrating expertise in marine structural assembly.
Oversee the work of assigned tacker(s), ensuring quality control and efficient workflow.
Contribute to broader ship construction tasks, demonstrating versatility and attention to detail.
