Position Summary: General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA, is seeking an Outside Machinist for new construction projects who will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing ships' propulsion systems and auxiliary components. The right candidate will have experience with various types of propulsion, including steam, turbine, electrical, and diesel systems, as well as working knowledge of rudders, steering gear, elevators, and Navy UNREP systems. This hands-on role requires a thorough understanding of ship fluid systems and proficiency in the use of precision measurement tools and portable machining tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams.
Assemble and install complex mechanical systems, ensuring proper alignment and operation.
