Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding seeks a proficient Ship Fitter to join our growing team and contribute to our marine vessel construction and repair initiatives in Palatka, FL. As an integral part of our shipyard crew, the Ship Fitter will specialize in the complex fabrication and assembly of ship structures, executing tasks with precision and ensuring that each fitted piece adheres to exact design specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately read and interpret detailed blueprints and technical drawings to determine the specifications for structural components of ships.
Perform precise measurements and layouts on metal materials, shaping and fabricating parts to exact dimensions.
Utilize a broad range of tools, such as cutting torches, grinders, drills, and welding equipment to cut and assemble parts.
