Position Summary: The Mechanic is key in maintaining the operational efficiency and longevity of the shipyard's diverse array of machinery and equipment. Beyond routine upkeep, this position extends to support roles, such as collaborating with stockroom clerks in fixing tools, procuring parts, and managing inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct maintenance and repair work on various equipment, including company vehicles, compressors, forklifts, manlifts, cherry pickers, and cranes.
Collaborate with stockroom clerks to assist in the repair of tools and the ordering of necessary parts.
Keep inventories well-organized to ensure quick and efficient access to parts and tools.
Diagnose mechanical issues and act swiftly to prevent equipment downtime.
Document maintenance procedures and adhere to a regular service schedule.
Qualifications:
Proven mechanical experience with a variety of heavy machinery and industrial equipment.
