Position Summary: A Pipe Fitter is crucial in a shipyard environment for the accurate arrangement and preparation of piping systems. They ensure each component and joint aligns precisely with the system's specifications before welding.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately fit pipe, plate, and steel components in preparation for welding, adhering to system specifications.
Read and interpret schematic diagrams and blueprints to determine the layout for pipe/plate systems.
Use various hand and power tools to measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes and fittings.
Assess and plan sequence of installation to optimize workflow and safety on site.
Inspect workpieces and equipment to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Coordinate with welders to facilitate efficient and high-quality joint completion.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; additional coursework or certification in pipefitting is preferred.
