Position Summary: General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Shipfitter - Journeyman proficient in new ship construction and repair tasks. The candidate will be responsible for shipfitting, burning, certified plate welding, chipping, and structural layout with minimal supervision. The role requires prior experience or training and the ability to perform precision work involving trigonometry, product design, metal properties, and shop machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform journeyman-level shipfitting, welding, burning, and other fabrication tasks complying with specifications.
Cut, grind, groove, scarf, and trim metal to dimension, contour, or specified level as required.
Fabricate metal structural parts, align them accurately, and secure parts into position.
Occasional tasks may be assigned relevant to the trade.
