Position Summary: Austal USA, situated in Mobile, AL, is looking for a highly skilled A-Class Structural Fitter. The role involves performing tasks such as layout, fabrication, and fitting of aluminum/steel components, modules, and vessels for ship construction with minimal supervision. The Structural Fitter must have advanced knowledge of engineering drawings, sketches, and knowledge of ship structure and terminology.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute tasks proficiently related to equipment operation, work processes, and maintain accountability for work assignments.
Comply with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations.
Perform safe and effective usage of craft-related tools and equipment, including GMAW ABS ‘B’ Class Weld Certification requirements for steel or aluminum applications.
Operate with minimal supervision in the layout, fabrication, and fitting of structural elements.
