Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is currently seeking a diligent Ship Fitter to construct, assemble, and repair large ship structural sections within our shipyard located in Palatka, FL. With a focus on quality and efficiency, the Ship Fitter will be an integral part of our team, ensuring that each vessel meets our rigorous standards for integrity and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret ship design blueprints to determine the layout and assembly of hulls, bulkheads, and other structural components.
Measure, cut, shape, and align metal plates and frames, utilizing welding and fabrication techniques to assemble structures.
Collaborate with other trade specialists, including welders and pipefitters, to ensure proper integration of all ship components.
