Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is seeking an adept Machinist to join our dynamic team in Palatka, FL. The Machinist will be responsible for operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, contributing to the construction and repair of various components for maritime vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate metal parts.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
Set up and adjust machines according to specifications and maintain them for optimal operation.
Measure, examine, and test completed units to check for defects and ensure alignment with specifications.
Collaborate with engineering and other craft teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes.
