Position Summary

We are seeking experienced Masters of Towing with strong wire tugboat and towing astern experience for multiple opportunities.

The Captain/Master is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel and the safety and welfare of the crew. This position oversees all vessel operations, including navigation, crew management, maintenance, training, regulatory compliance, and safe towing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the vessel's Captain and maintain overall responsibility for safe vessel operations.
  • Direct navigation, vessel movements, towing operations, and daily activities.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all crew members.
  • Manage crew schedules, assignments, training, and performance.
  • Monitor weather, environmental, navigational, and operating conditions.
  • Oversee vessel maintenance and ensure equipment is maintained in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable USCG regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Promote a strong onboard safety culture and ensure crew adherence to operational standards.
  • Coordinate vessel movements and towing activities with shoreside personnel and other vessels as required.

Required Qualifications

  • USCG Master of Towing
  • Minimum 200-Ton Near Coastal Endorsement
  • Valid USCG Medical Certificate
  • Valid TWIC Card
  • STCW preferred and required for select assignments

Required Experience

  • Previous experience serving as Master/Captain aboard wire tugboats
  • Towing astern experience is required
  • Strong knowledge of wire towing operations and vessel handling
  • Mud scow towing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience safely supervising vessel crews and towing operations

Compensation & Schedule

Day Rate: $775–$900/day, depending on experience and company placement.

Multiple rotational schedules are available, including:

  • Equal-time rotations
  • 2:1 rotations
