Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Weld and fuse metal components using FCAW and GMAW-Pulse welding processes.
  • Perform structural welding on carbon steel and aluminum in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as required.
  • Prepare surfaces and joints for production welding by inspecting and cleaning materials as necessary.
  • Examine work pieces and completed welds for defects and verify conformance with required specifications.
  • Properly select, position, and secure welding torches, tips, electrodes, wire, and other welding materials based on the type and thickness of metal.
  • Preheat materials as required prior to welding or bending.
  • Position and secure parts using hoists, cranes, wire, banding equipment, and hand tools.
  • Use thermal-cutting equipment, including flame-cutting torches and plasma-arc equipment, as required.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated work areas when necessary.
  • Prepare work areas for hot work and verify applicable hot-work certifications before beginning work.
  • Follow all applicable safety requirements and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality and report or correct deficiencies as directed by supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in both carbon steel structural welding and aluminum welding.
  • Must be capable of passing the required FCAW Structural Welder test in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions.
  • Must be capable of passing the required GMAW-Pulse Aluminum Welder test in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions.
  • Must be able to produce welds capable of passing required bend and X-ray testing.
  • Ability to inspect weld joints, identify defects, and perform work to required specifications.
  • Ability to safely operate welding, cutting, grinding, and related trade equipment.
