Painter

Position Summary:

The Industrial Painter / Coatings Applicator is responsible for performing surface preparation and applying protective coatings to steel, concrete, and other substrates in marine, industrial, and commercial environments. Work includes abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, and application of coatings in compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and company quality standards.

Job Description:

·         Prepare surfaces using ultra-high/high-pressure washing, hand and power tools and solvent cleaning; abrasive blasting as needed

·         Perform various coating applications including but not limited to airless spraying, rolling, brushing, and proper mixing techniques of protective coatings

·         Perform general labor including but not limited to cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, solvent wiping, masking, site preparation and etc.

• Operate light and heavy equipment depending on project requirements (training provided)
• Move tools and equipment as well as move, secure, install, build, load, or unload materials as directed by site supervisors or project plans
• Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently, adhering to quality standards

Requirements:

·         Previous experience in industrial/commercial painting preferred; marine or shipyard experience is a plus  

·         Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

·         Reliable, punctual, good communication, and capable of following verbal and written instructions

·         Strong attention to detail, including color matching and surface preparation standards

·         Able to read and follow safety labels, data sheets, and technical manuals and standards

·         Must wear required PPE, including respirators, provided by employer

·         Attend all the required safety, operational & quality training provided by the employer

·         Must have good visual acuity and the ability to work effectively under varying lighting conditions

·         Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment (training provided)

·         Valid driver’s license required

·         Must pass a health screening and be deemed fit for duty (employee expense)

·         Must be authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility will be verified at the time of hire in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Industrial and marine job sites (shipyards, tanks, pier side, etc.)
• Requires mobility to access all areas of shipyards and vessels, including gangways, confined spaces and elevated platforms, with use of ladders and fall protection equipment
• Ability to work for extended periods with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions
• Capable of standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching for long durations
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs over short distances and on stairs or inclined surfaces
• Travel and overtime may be required depending on project needs
