Position Responsibilities

As the Master of Towing, you will have overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including:

  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of all crew members.
  • Directing all vessel operations, including navigation and towing activities.
  • Supervising vessel maintenance and ensuring equipment reliability.
  • Managing crew schedules, training, and performance.
  • Coordinating vessel movements and daily operations.
  • Monitoring weather, navigational, and environmental conditions.
  • Maintaining compliance with all Coast Guard regulations and company policies.
  • Promoting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Master of Towing License
  • Minimum 200 GRT with Great Lakes or Near Coastal Endorsement
  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard Medical Certificate
  • STCW Not Required
  • Must be eligible to enter Canada (No DUI convictions)

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Captain/Master on wire tugboats required.
  • Experience with astern towing (wire towing) required.
  • Great Lakes operating experience preferred.
  • Candidates with strong towing backgrounds who need Great Lakes recency will be considered.

Compensation

  • $775 per day
  • Annual Performance Bonus: $10,000–$20,000

  • 28 Days On / 28 Days Off
