Position Responsibilities
As the Master of Towing, you will have overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including:
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of all crew members.
- Directing all vessel operations, including navigation and towing activities.
- Supervising vessel maintenance and ensuring equipment reliability.
- Managing crew schedules, training, and performance.
- Coordinating vessel movements and daily operations.
- Monitoring weather, navigational, and environmental conditions.
- Maintaining compliance with all Coast Guard regulations and company policies.
- Promoting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Master of Towing License
- Minimum 200 GRT with Great Lakes or Near Coastal Endorsement
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Medical Certificate
- STCW Not Required
- Must be eligible to enter Canada (No DUI convictions)
Experience
- Previous experience as a Captain/Master on wire tugboats required.
- Experience with astern towing (wire towing) required.
- Great Lakes operating experience preferred.
- Candidates with strong towing backgrounds who need Great Lakes recency will be considered.
Compensation
- $775 per day
- Annual Performance Bonus: $10,000–$20,000
