Paint Supervisor

Job Description

Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is currently looking for a competent Paint Supervisor to direct and oversee painting and coating operations at our facility in Palatka, FL. This position requires an individual with significant experience in industrial or marine painting processes, excellent leadership qualities, and the ability to ensure that all painting work meets the high standards of quality and safety required in the maritime industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the painting crew, ensuring efficient and high-quality execution of all painting projects.
  • Develop project schedules, manage paint inventory, and assess job priorities to meet production timelines.
  • Oversee surface preparation, paint application, and finishing processes, ensuring compliance with specified coating standards.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks on completed work to verify consistency and adherence to requirements.
  • Train and mentor team members on proper painting techniques, safety standards, and equipment use.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Solid experience supervising painting operations in an industrial or marine environment.
  • Expertise in various paint systems, surface preparation techniques, and coating applications.
  • Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations pertaining to painting in a shipyard context.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a focus on team-building and process improvement.
