Crane Operator

Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is actively recruiting for a Crane Operator to facilitate critical lifting and material handling operations in our Palatka, FL shipyard. This pivotal role requires expertise in operating various crane types and ensuring adherence to all safety protocols for efficient shipyard operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate cranes to lift, move, and position large objects and ship components.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and conduct regular maintenance checks.
• Collaborate with rigging staff to prepare loads for lifting according to established procedures.
• Monitor the work environment to effectively navigate and place loads while complying with safety regulations.
• Accurately log crane operations and report any incidents or irregularities.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

• Significant experience as a crane operator, preferably in a maritime or shipyard setting.
• Current crane operator certification and a solid understanding of operational mechanics.
• Strong safety mindset with a history of adhering to strict safety standards and practices.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with ground crews and other personnel.
