Crane Operator

Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is currently seeking a Crane Operator to join our shipyard operations in Palatka, FL. The Crane Operator will handle the operation of various types of cranes used for lifting and transporting heavy marine components. This role is vital to the shipyard's day-to-day operations and ensures the safe and efficient movement of materials crucial to our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate stationary or traveling crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials.
• Conduct daily inspections of crane equipment and accessories to ensure operational safety and report any malfunctions.
• Interpret load charts to determine the crane's lifting capacity and ensure safe operation during varying conditions.
• Work in coordination with rigging personnel to attach loads to the crane hook and confirm load stability and security.
• Observe strict compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations, maintaining a safety-first approach.
• Communicate effectively with ground crews using hand signals or radio communication to optimize load positioning and safety.
