Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding in Palatka, FL has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. This integral role involves overseeing the quality control processes for shipbuilding projects, ensuring that all construction activities meet industry standards and customer specifications. The Quality Assurance Engineer will be pivotal in implementing quality systems, conducting inspections, and contributing to continual process improvements to maintain exceptional standards of product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures across shipbuilding operations.
- Coordinate closely with production teams to carry out inspections and audits at various project stages, validating compliance with technical specifications.
- Analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, striving to enhance efficiency and reduce rework.
- Manage corrective action processes, documenting non-conformities, and ensuring timely resolution of quality issues.
- Liaise with certification agencies, classification societies, and client quality representatives, upholding strong collaborative relationships and transparent communication.
- Lead training initiatives to elevate quality awareness and competencies among the workforce, promoting a culture of excellence within the shipyard.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices to update quality assurance practices continually.

Experience Required: The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of quality assurance experience, preferably in the maritime industry or a similar engineering sector. A background in engineering, coupled with certifications in quality management systems (like Six Sigma, ISO, or ASQ), will be highly advantageous. Demonstrated leadership in quality assurance and a commitment to developing solutions that enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction are essential.

We are located on the Southeast Coast with excellent access to all of the Mid Atlantic and New England as well as the Caribbean and Gulf Coast. Our facility sits on a beautiful, partially wooded site along the St. Johns River in Putnam County, Florida approximately 68 miles south of Jacksonville, Fla., at marker 31. The St. Johns River is easily accessible to the Intracoastal Waterway and open to the Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville, Florida.
We offer a 850 ton dry dock, a crane capacity of 500 tons, 2,400 feet of water frontage with over 900 feet of bulkhead including a 400-ft launch basin, two rail launch systems, a 425-ft by 75-ft fabrication shop as well as complete carpentry, electrical and machine shops.
