Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is seeking a highly skilled Marine Electrician with a wealth of experience in marine electrical systems to join our dynamic team in Palatka, FL. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex electrical systems on a diverse range of marine vessels. Key Responsibilities:
- Install new electrical systems and upgrade existing configurations to enhance vessel performance and safety.
- Methodically troubleshoot and repair faults within marine electrical systems, including power distribution, navigation, communication, and control equipment.
- Carefully read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical drawings, and blueprints to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Conduct comprehensive tests and inspections of electrical components to prevent potential malfunctions or safety hazards.
- Provide detailed documentation of all electrical maintenance activities, including creating reports and maintaining service logs.
- Engage in continuous learning about new technologies and advancements in marine electrical applications to recommend upgrades and improvements.
- Serve as an electrical expert on board, offering guidance and support during construction and repair projects, and ensuring strict adherence to maritime electrical codes.

We are located on the Southeast Coast with excellent access to all of the Mid Atlantic and New England as well as the Caribbean and Gulf Coast. Our facility sits on a beautiful, partially wooded site along the St. Johns River in Putnam County, Florida approximately 68 miles south of Jacksonville, Fla., at marker 31. The St. Johns River is easily accessible to the Intracoastal Waterway and open to the Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville, Florida.
We offer a 850 ton dry dock, a crane capacity of 500 tons, 2,400 feet of water frontage with over 900 feet of bulkhead including a 400-ft launch basin, two rail launch systems, a 425-ft by 75-ft fabrication shop as well as complete carpentry, electrical and machine shops.
