Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is seeking an Electrical Operator to join our shipyard in Palatka, FL. The Electrical Operator will be instrumental in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various electrical systems aboard vessels, ensuring reliable and safe operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in marine vessels.
- Conduct routine checks and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and other trade professionals to ensure system integrations are executed as per design requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of electrical operations, including logs of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Adhere to all marine electrical safety standards and regulations.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Proven experience as an electrical operator or technician with strong knowledge of marine electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and system diagrams.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and safety protocols related to electrical work.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.

Experience Required: The role requires candidates with substantial experience in electrical operations within a maritime or related industrial environment. Electrical certification or specialized training is preferable.

We are located on the Southeast Coast with excellent access to all of the Mid Atlantic and New England as well as the Caribbean and Gulf Coast. Our facility sits on a beautiful, partially wooded site along the St. Johns River in Putnam County, Florida approximately 68 miles south of Jacksonville, Fla., at marker 31. The St. Johns River is easily accessible to the Intracoastal Waterway and open to the Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville, Florida.
We offer a 850 ton dry dock, a crane capacity of 500 tons, 2,400 feet of water frontage with over 900 feet of bulkhead including a 400-ft launch basin, two rail launch systems, a 425-ft by 75-ft fabrication shop as well as complete carpentry, electrical and machine shops.
