Job Description

Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is seeking an adept Machinist to join our dynamic team in Palatka, FL. The Machinist will be responsible for operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, contributing to the construction and repair of various components for maritime vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate metal parts.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
  • Set up and adjust machines according to specifications and maintain them for optimal operation.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to check for defects and ensure alignment with specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other craft teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Significant experience as a machinist in an industrial setting, with a strong understanding of machining operations and principles.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents and precision measuring instruments.
  • Skilled in the setup and operation of both CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to achieving high levels of accuracy and quality in all machined parts.
