Job Description

Position Summary: St. Johns Shipbuilding is seeking a Marine Electrician to join our team in Palatka, FL. The Marine Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment on marine vessels, ensuring functionality and safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and control systems on boats and ships.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement new electrical installations and modifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime safety standards and regulations.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Solid experience as a Marine Electrician or in a similar role within the maritime industry.
  • Deep understanding of marine electrical systems and equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

We are located on the Southeast Coast with excellent access to all of the Mid Atlantic and New England as well as the Caribbean and Gulf Coast. Our facility sits on a beautiful, partially wooded site along the St. Johns River in Putnam County, Florida approximately 68 miles south of Jacksonville, Fla., at marker 31. The St. Johns River is easily accessible to the Intracoastal Waterway and open to the Atlantic Ocean at Jacksonville, Florida.

We offer a 850 ton dry dock, a crane capacity of 500 tons, 2,400 feet of water frontage with over 900 feet of bulkhead including a 400-ft launch basin, two rail launch systems, a 425-ft by 75-ft fabrication shop as well as complete carpentry, electrical and machine shops.
