Job Description

Position Summary: Tampa Bay Ship is currently seeking a highly skilled Shipfitter to join our professional team. The Shipfitter will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring tools. The role demands precision and expertise in reading and interpreting blueprints as well as the use of a variety of tools and machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lay out, position, align, and fit parts of structural metal products.
  • Operate welding and cutting equipment to join metal parts or fill holes, indentations, or seams.
  • Inspect and test welds and structures to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Plan and execute the layout of equipment installation and loads to foster operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for procedures and specifications for each project.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Shipfitter or in a similar role within the maritime industry.
  • Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical plans.
  • Capable of safely operating heavy machinery and hand tools relevant to shipfitting tasks.
