Position Summary:
BAE Systems Maritime Solutions in San Diego, California, is hiring an Outside Machinist Journey Person for the 2nd shift. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity and reliability of naval vessels and contributing to keeping the U.S. Navy fleet mission-ready. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving understanding and repair of naval ship components. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, and general dock operations.
- Repair and overhaul valves and pumps.
- Utilize blueprints, sketches, and sample parts for ship component repairs.
- Tackle rudder, shaft, propeller, and deck machinery work.
- Carry out preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Understanding of reading, writing, and comprehending instructions.
- Ability to carry out tasks in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Knowledge of scale and tape measure use for measurements.
- Proficiency with measuring devices such as rulers, micrometers, and power tools.
- Awareness of basic blueprint knowledge.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and navigate various sizes of staircases and ladders.
- Trained in all annual NAVSEA Standard Items.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Relevant experience in shipyard machinery operations is preferred.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of related experience is advantageous.

Full-Time Salary Range: $59,800 - $91,645
