Position Summary:
BAE Systems is looking for motivated Shipfitters to join our Maritime Solutions team in San Diego, California, for the 3rd shift. The shipfitters will be integral to all structural phases of hull construction, from fitting and fabricating to assembly and alignment. Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in all structural phases of a ship’s hull construction, including fitting, fabricating, assembly, and alignment.
- Conduct layout access cuts and inserts, inspect tanks, and assist with testing.
- Tack weld as needed and perform installations and rip-outs.
- Read and interpret blueprints for layout and other shipfitting tasks.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in using basic shipfitting tools and protective gear.
- Ability to work effectively at heights, in confined spaces, and climb stairs and ladders.
- Basic understanding of verbal and written instructions, measurements, and blueprint interpretation.
- Readily comprehend tasks in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Experience with calculating units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Weld Certification, including SMAW, FCAW, or other relevant certifications.
- Experience with Ultrasonic Impact Testing Treatment (UIT Treatment).
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Full-time onsite work for the 3rd shift.
- The role requires standing for long periods, stooping, bending, reaching, and climbing.

Pay Information:
Full-Time Salary Range: $59,800 - $91,645
