Position Summary:
BAE Systems is looking for a Certified Welding Inspector to join the dedicated team in Aiken, South Carolina. As a Certified Welding Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting weldments according to various codes, applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, addressing non-conformances, and providing technical quality support to both production and engineering. Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and work to prescribed specifications.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of weldments to meet diverse code requirements.
  • Apply GD&T concepts in a practical setting.
  • Process non-conformances and determine suitable solutions.
  • Provide technical quality support for production and engineering.
  • Perform various types of welding inspections, including Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT).

Work Schedule:

  • Rotating schedule with a blend of 10-hour weekday and weekend shifts, totaling 40 hours a week on a 4/10 schedule.
  • Shifts may change based on the needs of the business, with the possibility of floating shifts.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) qualification.
  • Minimum H.S. Diploma with 2+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and professional background in quality inspection, welding, NDT, etc.
  • Competence in using MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of GD&T.
  • Familiarity with reading and understanding raw material specifications.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Experience with Oracle MRP system.
  • First Article inspection preparation proficiency.
  • Knowledge of PFEMAs and writing inspection plans.
  • Experience with Laser Scanner inspection technology.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Familiarity with quality tools.
