Position Summary:
BAE Systems Maritime Solutions Division is offering a rewarding opportunity for Fabrication Welders, welcoming candidates from entry-level to those with extensive experience to join our facility in Jacksonville, Florida. In this role, welders will conduct structural welding of newly fabricated components, plating, and outfitting items following precise Module fabrication standards. Adherence to the company’s stringent safety, health, and environmental policies is paramount. Welders will also have the chance to earn various professional certifications and contribute meaningfully to the protection of those who serve by ensuring the quality and integrity of critical defense materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding tasks on newly fabricated structural members and plating.
  • Weld outfitting items such as electrical cableways, brackets, and watertight hatches/doors in compliance with prescribed standards.
  • Strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental protocols.
  • Read and interpret welding procedures and symbols.
  • Use an oxy-fuel torch for pre-heating and air carbon arc gouging equipment efficiently.
  • Operate electric and pneumatic grinders for material preparation and weld finishing.
  • Utilize measuring tools and gauges for verifying weld joint dimensions.
  • Achieve groove-weld qualification tests for various materials and welding processes.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Upcoming or recent graduation from Tidewater Tech.
  • Ability to pass welding tests including FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee, and open butt in 2G and 3G positions.
  • Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Defense Biometric Identification Systems (DBIDS) access badge.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Basic understanding of Military standard 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication.
  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent shipyard/marine experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Full-time, onsite position requiring ability to work various shifts as necessary.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and climbing staircases and ladders.

This position reports to the supervisory staff at the Manufacturing & Maintenance department in Jacksonville, Florida.

Full-Time Salary Range: $35,048 - $62,400
