Position Summary:
BAE Systems Maritime Solutions Division is actively seeking Pipe Welders ranging from entry-level to experienced professionals to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. These individuals will be integral to our operations, utilizing welding machines and hand tools daily, acquiring various GTAW welding certifications, performing pre-visual NDT inspections, and supporting other mechanics. The role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in the defense industry, directly impacting the protection and modernization of U.S. Navy vessels. Successful candidates must be prepared to work different shifts to accommodate the shipyard's needs and meet the physical demands of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain an array of welding machines and hand tools.
- Obtain various GTAW welding certifications using different metals in assorted positions.
- Perform pre-visual NDT inspections to minimize rework.
- Assist other mechanics with job tasks when not actively welding.
- Adapt to various shifts including 1st shift (6:00 am to 4:30 pm) and 2nd shift (4:00 pm to 2:30 am), and availability for weekend shifts.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or 3 years shipyard/marine experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, written, oral, or in diagram form.
- Knowledge of blueprints and welding symbols.
- Proficiency in wearing appropriate protective gear (PPE).
- Physical ability to perform essential job duties, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to climb various staircases and ladders.
- Ability to measure using scales and tape measures.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Previous shipyard/marine experience is highly advantageous.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Full-time onsite position with less than 10% travel required.
- Physical ability to wear protective gear and perform tasks in diverse settings.
Reporting:
Pipe Welders will report to their immediate supervisor in the Manufacturing & Maintenance department.

Pay Information:
Full-Time Salary Range: $44,720 - $78,520
