Position Summary:
BAE Systems is actively recruiting Welders for their Maritime Solutions team located in San Diego, California, for both 2nd and 3rd shifts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding on structural steel in all positions.
  • Weld stainless steel, carbon steel, and possibly other alloys.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure with precision to ensure specifications are met.
  • Operate machinery involved in metal structure fabrication and repair.
  • Obtain necessary welding certifications, including but not limited to SMAW plate, SMAW Pipe, and GTAW Pipe.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years related experience in the craft.
  • Skill in completing welding projects aboard vessels and within shops.
  • Success in a practical welding test including SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P (5XXX Aluminum) with x-ray NDT confirmation.
  • Interpretation and understanding of NAVSEA drawings/blueprints and welding symbols as per Military Standard 22-D, with experience under Military Standard 1689, DM 10-623B, and CG-47 Crack Repair Manual.
  • Competency in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to wear protective equipment and meet physical demands of the job, working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Capacity to lift and carry a personal tool bag up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in 5XXX aluminum welding processes, including Process Control Procedure (PCP) work.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work 2nd shift (3:00 pm to 11:00 pm) or 3rd shift (hours to be specified), based on the role applied for.
  • Working at heights, in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and other physically demanding tasks.
  • Expected to wear appropriate protective equipment, including respirators when necessary.

Reporting:
The Welder reports to the Shift Supervisor for their respective working shift.

Pay Information:
Full-Time Salary Range: $59,800 - $91,645
