Job Description

Position Summary:
BAE Systems invites current college students to join our Platforms & Services sector as a Combat Vehicles Electrical Engineering Intern for Summer 2026. Located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, this role offers a full-time onsite internship where you'll be part of a dynamic team tasked with designing and advancing technology and products for the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) program. The internship, which does not include relocation or housing provision, is part of the nationwide LEAP (Learn, Engage, Apply, Progress) Program, focusing on your professional development through real-world projects, networking, mentorship, and interactions with senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the electrical design/build process for Combat Vehicle programs.
  • Generate or update engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Perform hardware checkout or verification on prototype or production models.
  • Conduct engineering trade studies and research.
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to engineering drawing release processes.
  • Develop data analysis tools for design-related tasks.
  • Address aspects of electrical power, distribution, cabling, C4ISR, vehicle displays, databusses, transducers, actuators, and lighting.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with team members.
  • Organized and punctual with good planning and follow-up capabilities.
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Completion of at least two years of college.
  • Interest in the defense industry career.
  • Experience with electrical engineering lab equipment.
  • Desire to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Full-time onsite position for the duration of the summer internship (Approximately April to August 2026).
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team-focused environment.

Reporting:
Intern will report to a supervisor within the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business department or to an assigned mentor.
