Position Summary:
BAE Systems is actively seeking a Welder II for their Anniston, Alabama location, offering a competitive wage of $28.07 per hour. This role involves executing sophisticated welding tasks to create weldments and sub-weldments by joining various metals like aluminum, steel, and stainless steel through an array of welding processes across different positions. The Welder II will also rework products by repairing defective welds and machined features among other assigned duties. Working from a variety of instructional materials and specifications, the Welder II will operate both manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, skillfully adopt Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) techniques, and perform related tasks to deliver products that meet BAE Systems' rigorous quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding layout, fit-up, tacking, and welding operations to produce required weldments.
  • Work with engineering drawings, instructions, and project specifications.
  • Skilled use of manual and semi-automatic welding, as well as plasma cutting equipment.
  • Handle oxy-fuel equipment and plasma torch for cutting purposes.
  • Operate pneumatic tools for welding-related fit-up activities.
  • Utilize band saws for fabrication of simple parts required within the welding department.
  • Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a technical field.
  • Pass an overhead (4G) GMAW weld certification test in aluminum or steel.
  • Proficiency in using a band saw for fabricating simple parts.
  • Ability to recognize out-of-specification conditions and weld workmanship defects.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting drawings with weld symbols and machine features.
  • Team-oriented work ethic.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • For internal applicants: Possession of Welder I skills.
  • Three to six months of welding experience at the Vehicle Up-Grade Facility.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Full-time onsite position with no travel requirements.
  • Must be capable of working in a production environment and wearing appropriate protective gear.

Reporting:
The Welder II will report to the production supervisor or shop lead.

Pay Information:
