Position Summary:
BAE Systems is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector for a full-time onsite position located in Aiken, South Carolina. This role involves weekend shifts, Friday through Sunday, 12-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM. As a Certified Welding Inspector, you will play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of welds on various projects. Your primary responsibilities include reading and working from blueprints, inspecting weldments to comply with numerous welding codes, applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) concepts, processing non-conformance for disposition, and providing technical quality support to production and engineering teams. You will also perform various welding inspections, ensuring the company's commitment to exceptional quality standards in all its products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and follow detailed blueprints for manufacturing and inspection purposes.
  • Perform weldment inspections according to different code requirements.
  • Utilize and apply GD&T concepts in quality inspections.
  • Process non-conformances for proper disposition.
  • Provide quality technical support to both production and engineering departments.
  • Execute various types of welding inspections, such as Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT).

Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Proficiency in inspecting weldments to diverse code requirements.
  • High School Diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in quality inspection, welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), etc.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Skill in interpreting blueprints and adhering to specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in GD&T principles and applications.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement raw material specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle MRP system.
  • Proficiency in performing First Article inspections.
  • Familiarity with PFEMAs and writing inspection plans.
  • Experience with Laser Scanner inspection technology.
  • Enhanced GD&T expertise.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality tools.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Full-time onsite work during weekend shifts.

Reporting:
The Certified Welding Inspector will report to the quality management or production management team.
