Fabrication Welder

Position Summary:
BAE Systems, a pioneering company facing the world's most significant challenges, is hiring Fabrication Welders for its Maritime Solutions Jacksonville facility. This role is ideal for candidates graduating or who have recently graduated from Universal Technical Institute - Miramar. Onsite in Jacksonville, Florida, the Fabrication Welder will engage in welding newly fabricated structural members, plating, and various outfitting items in compliance with Module fabrication. Your responsibilities will include adhering to strict safety, health, and environmental procedures, reading and applying welding procedures, symbols, and safely utilizing various welding and cutting equipment. Eligible candidates will be detail-oriented, ensuring that all tasks meet the high standards required for structural welding within the company's rigorous guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Weld newly fabricated structural members and plating according to Module fabrication standards.
• Weld outfitting components such as electrical cableways, brackets, and watertight hatches/doors.
• Observe and execute company safety, health, and environmental policies.
• Read and employ welding procedures and symbols to guide fabrication work.
• Use oxy-fuel torches, air carbon arc gouging, electric and pneumatic grinders efficiently.
• Verify dimensions and weld quality with the correct tools and gauges.
• Employ ceramic backing techniques in various welding positions.
• Pass qualification tests for welding high strength steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and steel using FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse processes.
• Obtain and maintain a DBIDS Access Card to work on these specified projects.

Qualifications:

• Upcoming or recent graduate of Universal Technical Institute - Miramar preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate welding capabilities including FCAW with ceramic tape and passing tests in 2G and 3G positions.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DBIDS access badge.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of Military standard 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication desirable.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalency Certificate/Diploma.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Full-time onsite position with 0% travel requirement.

Reporting:
The Fabrication Welder will report to the production supervisor or facility manager at the Jacksonville location.
