Position Summary:
BAE Systems in Jacksonville, Florida, offers an exciting opportunity for Fabrication Welders of various levels of expertise to join our Maritime Solutions team. In this role, you'll be tasked with welding newly fabricated structural members and plating, as well as outfitting items including cableways, brackets, watertight hatches, and doors in line with Module fabrication practices. To excel, you'll need to comply with strict safety, health, and environmental policies and demonstrate proficiency in reading welding procedures, using welding symbols, pre-heating materials, carbon arc gouging, and using grinders for material preparation and weld finishing. Additionally, you'll be responsible for verifying dimensions and weld quality with appropriate tools and gauges, and must be capable of passing various weld qualification tests. Key Responsibilities:
- Weld newly fabricated structural members and plating.
- Attach outfitting items in accordance with Module fabrication.
- Adhere to company safety, health, and environmental policies.
- Read and interpret welding procedures and symbols.
- Use oxy-fuel torches for pre-heating and air carbon arc gouging equipment.
- Operate electric and pneumatic grinders for weld preparation and finishing.
- Verify dimensions and inspect welds with measuring tools and gauges.
- Utilize ceramic backing in welding processes.
- Pass qualification tests for various welding processes and materials.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee, and open butt in 2G and 3G positions.
- Skilled in GMAW pulse and spray arc across all positions.
- 3 to 5 years of shop fabrication experience preferred.
- Availability to work on the 2nd shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the Military standard 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency Certificate.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Full-time, onsite position requiring 0% travel.

This position reports to the supervisor of the 2nd Shift Fabrication team.

Pay Range:
$44,720 - $78,520 per year
