Position Summary: BAE Systems is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Weld Engineering Technologist I to join the team at Aiken, South Carolina. This role is crucial for individuals eager to apply their welding knowledge and skills in support of our 2nd Shift Weld Operations. As the successful candidate, you will play a fundamental part in ensuring the smooth operation of our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business. On a daily basis, you will be involved in auditing for compliance, driving technological process improvements, and providing essential production engineering support. Key Responsibilities:
- Apply educational insights to practical welding processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform regular compliance audits and ensure adherence to established standards.
- Research and apply new technologies to improve process quality and efficiency.
- Manage and optimize weld equipment, including maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Offer timely production engineering support to address technical challenges.
- Oversee the maintenance of materials and facilities for weld schooling and certification tests.
- Assist in testing and qualification activities, maintaining meticulous records.
- Identify and act upon opportunities for continuous improvement regarding Quality and Cost metrics.
- Actively participate in developing and maintaining a safe workplace environment.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, Weld Engineering, Applied Technology, Welding or related field with two (2) years of experience; OR Weld Certification with High School Diploma and four (4) years of experience; OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field with no experience necessary.
- Willingness to work the 2nd shift schedule of Monday through Thursday (3:15PM – 1:45AM).
- Hands-on experience with welding processes such as GMAW, GMAW-Pulse, GTAW, and SMAW.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.
- Competent in using MS Office suite for day-to-day activities.
- Proven track record of maintaining training materials and facilitating related training sessions.
- A strong commitment toward enhancing safety standards and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in DOD/Defense weld manufacturing settings.
- Familiar with conducting welder testing, training, and audits.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Primarily on-site work environment with <10% travel obligations.
Reporting: This role reports to the 2nd Shift Weld Operations supervisor or designated team lead.

Pay Range: $57,866 – $98,372 per year
