Position Summary: Austal USA, located in Mobile, AL, is seeking an A Class Pipe Welder (MMF) capable of achieving maximum productivity in a team-oriented environment while adhering to safety, quality, and schedule requirements. This role is essential in performing various pipe welding tasks, supporting team goals, and willing to mentor less experienced workers. Prospective candidates are expected to have experience in interpreting engineering drawings, possess strong mechanical aptitude, and demonstrate welding proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret basic drawings and weld symbols.
- Perform weld testing for Austal USA procedures in the 6GR position.
- Pass Austal USA TIG weld test for aluminum pipe.
- Maintain work discipline, including housekeeping standards and tool management.
- Identify potential problems and initiate corrective measures.
- Exemplify and drive quality within the department.
- Work towards team goals under supervisors' guidance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a B-class pipe welder at Austal or 2 years in a similar role.
- Ability to pass “A Class” skills validation test for restricted open root welds.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic mathematics.
