Job Description

Position Summary: Austal USA, based in Mobile, AL, is seeking a Hydrostatic Pipe Tester to join their team. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications, conducting tests to verify system integrity, and ensuring compliance with Austal's safety, quality, and environmental policies. The candidate must have a minimum of one year of experience at Austal or two years in a similar role and be capable of performing simple math and measurement tasks, as well as passing a Hydrostatic Pipe Tester test.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine layout requirements for pipe systems.
  • Perform tests using various equipment to ensure system integrity and leak-free installation.
  • Document findings and coordinate with production and logistics teams to manage any work delays or discrepancies.
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings, and provide instruction and supervision to less-skilled workers as needed.
  • Adhere to Austal’s policies and procedures and participate actively in maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of work experience at Austal or two years in a similar role at a comparable employer.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and measure using the metric system and possess knowledge of shipyard terminology.
  • Completion of a drug screen, background check, and proof of US Person status are required for employment.
