Fit Out Tradesman

Position Summary: Austal USA, located in San Diego, CA, is seeking an A Class Fit Out Tradesman - SDCA proficient in performing tasks associated with TA and B Class status. This position entails laying out, prefabricating, and installing joiner components with minimal supervision, marking out insulation for deckheads and ducts, and operating CNC machinery. The Tradesman should possess three years of marine experience or five years of comparable trade experience within the construction industry and have a functional working knowledge of blueprints and construction information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Layout, prefab, and install joiner components like bulkheads, doors, ceilings, shelving, and consoles.
• Insulate deck head, side shells, beams, and all ducts.
• Measure, build, and install pads.
• Run and cut fittings on pipe coverings, operate shear and break.
• Mount and install various ship equipment.
• Understand and apply interior painting principles.
• Comply with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations.

Qualifications:

• Three years of marine experience or five years of comparable trade experience in the construction industry.
• Working knowledge of cabinet making, carpentry, industrial insulation, HVAC, and basic mechanical skills and trades mathematics.

Compensation: $39.67 per hour, depending on experience.
