Position Summary: Austal USA in Mobile, AL, is seeking a Shop Planner I to serve as a liaison between Planning, Scheduling, Production, and Project Management. The Shop Planner I will be responsible for verifying work package availability, assessing material availability, and facilitating the efficient flow of interim products and materials for construction. The role requires someone with shipbuilding experience and the capability to communicate effectively, organize meetings, and coordinate with multiple departments to ensure a seamless construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify work package availability and coordinate with various departments to balance scheduled work.
  • Assess material availability at the work pack level and communicate any discrepancies.
  • Review open work packages upon module construction completion and work closely with Production to ensure smooth operation.
  • Communicate field lessons learned back to Planning and Scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of shipbuilding experience.
  • 2 years of shipbuilding planning experience preferred or applicable engineering degrees.
