Structural Welder

Position Summary: Austal USA in Mobile, AL, is offering an opportunity for a skilled A Class Structural Welder to join their team. The Welder will perform tasks from simple to complex, meeting all safety, quality, and schedule requirements. With a pay rate of up to $33.36 per hour, this role involves a range of welding activities and may require instructing less-skilled workers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out welding according to provided blueprints, work orders, or verbal instructions.
• Perform fillet welds in single-pass and multi-pass configurations across various positions and joint thicknesses.
• Execute multi-pass full penetration joint details for all joint configurations, with minimal supervision.
• Instruct and mentor less-skilled welders and work efficiently while maintaining safe work practices.
• Comply with Austal USA standards and project specifications, utilizing strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Complete all assigned work diligently, ensuring completion and signatures for work and quality.
• Monitor the work environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations.

Qualifications:

• High level of pride in workmanship and ability to weld in challenging positions.
• Minimum of 1 year as a B-Class Welder at Austal or 2 years of GMAW MIG welding experience.
• Capability to pass a skill evaluation test to demonstrate welding ability.

Experience Required:

• A minimum of 1 year as a B-Class Welder at Austal producing advance fillet welds or 2 years of GMAW MIG welding experience at a comparable employer.
