Pipe Fitter - Training Program

Position Summary: Austal USA, located in Mobile, AL, is offering a 16-week Pipe Fitter Training Program in Foley, Alabama. This program is designed to provide essential skills for career development in the maritime industry. Trainees will learn pipefitting techniques used in the construction of advanced naval vessels for the United States Navy and Coast Guard. This opportunity serves as a pathway to a fulfilling career where craftsmanship contributes to national defense.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn safe work practices and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Understand and effectively use craft-related tools and equipment for pipefitting.
• Ensure the quality of own work and execute tasks efficiently.
• Complete daily work assignments, participate in safety and continuous improvement programs.
• Learn on-the-job to progress skills, knowledge, and understanding of the pipefitting craft.
• Assist or work with other trades or Austal USA employees as directed.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must have completed an applicable Trade Technical Diploma/Certificate or have plumbing apprenticeship experience.
• Previous shipyard experience or similar industry work on pipe systems is preferred.
• Veterans and transitioning service members are encouraged to apply.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, work independently, and wear respiratory protection.
• Perform work outdoors in various conditions and work at heights or in confined spaces.

Experience Required:

• Applicable Trade Technical Diploma/Certificate or experience as a plumbing apprentice is preferred.
• Previous shipyard experience or similar industry work on pipe systems is beneficial.
