Shipfitter

Position Summary: Bollinger Shipyard Industries is seeking a Shipfitter A for their Pascagoula, MS location. The candidate will be responsible for the surface preparation of structural metal components and the layout and fabrication of metal structural parts within the hull of a vessel ready for riveting and welding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Layout positioning of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates, using scribes and hand tools to achieve accurate assembly.
• Mark reference lines and position parts within a vessel's hull, assisting with alignment using various tools.
• Mark drill hole locations and install temporary fasteners to secure parts for permanent processes.
• Tack weld clips and brackets as necessary before final welding.
• Bend, flange, cut, and shape heavy metal parts with the appropriate equipment.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.

Experience & Training:

• Prior experience as a shipfitter preferred.
• Capability with a cutting torch and tack welding is highly desirable.
