Job Description

Position Summary: Bollinger Shipyard Industries is seeking an experienced Pipe Hydro Tester for their Pascagoula, MS location. This role involves preparing and conducting mechanical and hydrostatic tests on piping systems, ensuring that they meet engineering specifications and quality standards. The Pipe Hydro Tester is a crucial team member in certifying the readiness of piping systems for final QA inspection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret mechanical and functional piping drawings to determine testing sequence and requirements.
  • Verify mechanical completions of piping systems prior to conducting tests.
  • Execute air and hydrostatic pressure tests following specified engineering criteria and safety standards.
  • Identify and document weld defects, leaks, or system deficiencies.
  • Independently plan, prepare and complete test procedures.
  • Coordinate with QA for system inspection and acceptance.
  • Maintain precise records of pressure logs, leak reports, and readiness checklists.
  • Setup and operate testing equipment like pumps, gauges, manifolds, and hoses.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, with the ability to understand piping drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical completions, test procedures, and detection of welding and system issues.
  • Proficient in organizational and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to handle testing equipment, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of hydro or air testing experience in a shipyard or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with marine quality standards and QA system turnover experience.
