Position Summary:
The Leadworker - B Joiner at Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS, supervises a group of hourly welders to ensure company quality and safety standards are met within production schedules in a cost-effective manner. Reporting to a Foreman, Superintendent, or plant management, this role involves task delegation, monitoring job progress, resolving issues, and coordinating resources to maintain efficient workflow and compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Task and oversee hourly workers on daily assignments.
Complete daily time entry for hourly workers.
Monitor job activity, answer questions, provide guidance, and resolve problems.
Assist plant management in planning work procedures, equipment, supply needs, and manpower requirements.
Select, supervise, instruct, and schedule employee work.
Monitor work processes and products to maintain quality and cost containment standards.
Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and security of company equipment.
Enforce and monitor compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of plant operations, welding techniques, and related equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work objectives.
Effective planning skills for work procedures, equipment, materials, and manpower.
Leadership ability to build and lead productive work groups and work within a management team.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of State and Federal safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in the craft position.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Supervision and coordination of welding activities in a plant setting.
Responsibility for safety and equipment maintenance.
