Foreman/Supervisor - Welding

Position Summary:
The Foreman/Supervisor - Welding at Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS, directs a team of shop employees involved in production, repair, or material handling processes to ensure quality and safety standards are met within production schedules in a cost-effective manner. This role supervises welders, painters, plant clerks, and general hourly employees, coordinating operations and equipment maintenance under the general direction of plant management. The position plays a key role in maintaining product integrity through collaboration with engineers and quality assurance inspectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Determine work procedures, equipment, supplies, and manpower requirements based on production drawings.

• Select, supervise, assign, instruct, and schedule shop employees.

• Monitor work processes and products to ensure quality, safety, and cost containment standards.

• Coordinate with other operational phases to meet schedules and secure materials and equipment.

• Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and security of company equipment.

• Consult with engineers and quality assurance inspectors on product integrity.

Qualifications:

• Considerable knowledge of plant operations, techniques, and equipment specific to the area.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or work objectives.

• Strong planning skills for work procedures, equipment, materials, and manpower.

• Proven leadership to build and lead productive teams and work as part of management.

• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by coursework in drafting, industrial technology, or related fields.

• Extensive experience in plant operations and supervision or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Supervision within a manufacturing or repair plant environment.

• Interaction with multiple trades and operational personnel.

• Responsibility for handling and maintenance of company equipment.

Reporting:
Reports to plant superintendent, plant manager, or other plant management personnel.
