Job Description

Position Summary:
Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS is seeking a Shipfitter Lead A to supervise a group of hourly shipfitters, ensuring quality, safety, and production schedules are met efficiently and cost-effectively. This full-time, non-executive role involves coordinating daily assignments, monitoring work processes, providing guidance, and supporting management in planning and resource allocation. The Shipfitter Lead A works under the direction of a foreman, superintendent, or other plant management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line up hourly workers on daily assignments

  • Complete daily time entry for hourly workers

  • Monitor job activity, answer questions, provide guidance, and resolve problems

  • Assist plant management with work procedures, equipment, supplies, and manpower planning

  • Select, supervise, instruct, and schedule employees

  • Monitor work processes and products to ensure quality and cost standards

  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and security of company equipment

  • Enforce compliance with safety rules and regulations among employees

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of plant operations, shipfitting techniques, and related equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work objectives

  • Strong skills in planning work procedures, equipment, materials, and manpower

  • Proven ability to build and lead productive work groups

  • Ability to perform effectively as part of a management team

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Supervisory role in a shipyard environment involving physical and operational oversight

  • Ensures safety and compliance in a production setting

Reports to Foreman, Superintendent, or Plant Management
