Position Summary:
Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - A responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining automotive and mechanical equipment such as forklifts, front-end loaders, cherry pickers, and electronic components of industrial machinery. This full-time, non-executive role involves diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs following electrical codes and manuals, and maintaining service records to ensure optimal equipment functionality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain service records on vehicles and equipment
Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical and automotive equipment including forklifts, loaders, and cherry pickers
Diagnose defects and malfunctions using analyzers, pressure gauges, chassis charts, and manuals
Disassemble and overhaul engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and rear ends
Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment
Operate equipment to test functionality
Change oil, check batteries, repair tires and tubes, lubricate machinery
Perform “tag out” or “lock out” procedures on yard equipment
Qualifications:
Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, electrical engine components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred
Prior experience as a maintenance mechanic in industrial or shipyard environments preferred
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work involves use of hand tools, hoists, and diagnostic equipment
Physical labor with heavy machinery and equipment maintenance
