Job Description

Position Summary:
Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic - A responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining automotive and mechanical equipment such as forklifts, front-end loaders, cherry pickers, and electronic components of industrial machinery. This full-time, non-executive role involves diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs following electrical codes and manuals, and maintaining service records to ensure optimal equipment functionality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain service records on vehicles and equipment

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical and automotive equipment including forklifts, loaders, and cherry pickers

  • Diagnose defects and malfunctions using analyzers, pressure gauges, chassis charts, and manuals

  • Disassemble and overhaul engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and rear ends

  • Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment

  • Operate equipment to test functionality

  • Change oil, check batteries, repair tires and tubes, lubricate machinery

  • Perform “tag out” or “lock out” procedures on yard equipment

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, electrical engine components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred

  • Prior experience as a maintenance mechanic in industrial or shipyard environments preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work involves use of hand tools, hoists, and diagnostic equipment

  • Physical labor with heavy machinery and equipment maintenance
