Position Summary:
Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS is seeking a Pipefitter Lead B responsible for laying out, installing, and maintaining piping systems on vessels, including heat, power, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil lines. This full-time, non-executive leadership role involves supervising and instructing employees, ensuring compliance with blueprints and specifications, and coordinating daily job activities to maintain efficiency and quality in shipyard piping operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow blueprints and use hand tools and shop machines
Cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for pipe installation
Cut and thread pipes and pipe fittings
Connect pipes to fixtures and test systems for leaks, ensuring specification compliance
Inspect work for compliance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications
Assign daily tasks to employees using task sheets
Monitor job activities, answer questions, provide guidance, and solve problems
Select, supervise, and instruct employees
Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work objectives
Effective planning of work procedures, equipment, materials, and manpower
Ability to build and lead productive teams and work as part of a supervisory team
Strong communication skills
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a pipefitter preferred
Capable of operating cutting torch and tack welding
High School Diploma or GED required
