Job Description

Position Summary:
Bollinger Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS is seeking a Blaster/Painter responsible for preparing, blasting, and painting vessel components, equipment, and interiors/exteriors using various blasting equipment, spray guns, brushes, and rollers. This full-time, non-executive role involves surface preparation, application of paint and coatings, equipment operation, and maintenance to ensure surfaces meet quality and safety specifications within the shipbuilding industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting using solvents

  • Mix primers or paints according to specifications

  • Apply paint using spray guns, rollers, or brushes

  • Maintain blasting and painting equipment by cleaning and proper storage

  • Regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixtures through equipment valves

  • Start and operate equipment to direct blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air over surfaces

  • Manually direct nozzles over large parts for blasting

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of spray guns, their application, and maintenance

  • Knowledge of various blasting and painting products and techniques

  • Understanding of safety requirements for spray painting

  • Prior blasting/painting experience in heavy industrial or shipbuilding environment preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Handling of abrasive materials and chemicals

  • Operation of blasting and painting equipment

  • Work in industrial and shipyard settings with exposure to dust and fumes
