Equipment Operator

Position Summary:
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co is hiring full-time Equipment Operators to support land-based dredging operations in Houston, TX and Port Isabel, TX. These operators will use heavy equipment to move and grade materials such as earth, sand, and clay to create levees, fill beaches, reclaim land, or prepare disposal areas. Operators may work in varying environments, including near the water’s edge or on steep piles of sand/fill. During downtime between loads, they may also inspect equipment, relocate pipe, or assist with other site tasks. This role is ideal for skilled heavy equipment operators with a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work in challenging outdoor conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate all classes and models of heavy equipment at the project fill site

• Maintain heavy equipment in proper working order

• Perform specialized work aboard the dredge and attendant plant

• Move and grade sand, gravel, clay, or mud to construct levees and fill areas

• Support beach nourishment projects by relocating pipe, filling shelters, and grading

• Operate equipment near steep slopes or water’s edge

• Perform equipment inspections and servicing during breaks

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Valid TWIC card

• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as Dozers, Loaders, and Excavators

• Ability to lift, carry, pull, or push up to 50 lbs

• Completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen

• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Outdoor work near beaches, levees, and dredge sites

• Operation of heavy equipment on uneven, steep, or sandy terrain

• May work near water’s edge

• Physically demanding; lifting up to 50 lbs
