Shipyard Estimator

Position Summary: Bay Ship & Yacht Co., located on the San Francisco Bay waterfront in Alameda, CA, is on the lookout for a dedicated Shipyard Estimator to join the team. Responsible for assisting Project and Account Management to create estimates and prepare bids, the Shipyard Estimator will be integral to ensuring BSY's commitment to Absolute Customer Satisfaction. The role involves ship checks, technical research, detailed scope of work preparation, contract development, and potential travel for project assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the account manager/customer to define a detailed scope of work, cost estimate, and project proposal.
• Develop contracts, cost estimates, technical proposals, and schedule requirements.
• Conduct ship checks, research and utilize internal resources to accurately determine project parameters.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and clarify client queries during the bid phase.
• Develop change orders and price adjustments as necessary.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Engineering or a similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 3-4 years of practical experience in a related field.
• Understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement processes.
• Proven relationship-building skills across functional teams.
• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Creative problem-solving abilities and continuous improvement mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous shipyard experience is highly preferred.
• Project management experience is advantageous.
